Transmission 1.75 Released!

  • Don't wait so long on unresponsive trackers if there are other trackers to try
  • Adding corrupt/invalid torrents could crash Transmission
  • Fix 1.74 bug that caused a high CPU load on startup
  • Fix 1.74 bug that stopped multitracker if a single tracker sent an error message
  • Fix bug in converting other charsets to UTF-8
  • Handle HTTP redirects more gracefully
  • Faster verification of local data for torrents with small piece size
  • Fix 1.74 build error when compiling without DHT
Mac
  • Fix libcurl build issue that caused tracker connectivity problems on Snow Leopard
  • Fix error when creating a torrent file while still changing the announce address
GTK+
  • Fix "sort by time remaining"
  • Fix the turtle toggle button on old versions of GTK+
  • Fix startup error if another copy of the Transmission GTK client is running
  • Fix clang build issue

Don't work.
Same problems of the 174...
App starts and freeze (infinite spinning colored ball)....

Developpers, what are you playing to?

i don't have these issues, how many torrents do you have connecting when you open transmission, could be a shitty install of your OS

Had it crash today on 10.6.1. I've ran 1.74, 1.75b1 and 1.75b2 without any problems on Snow Leopard.

This release APPEARS to have really screwed up my Leopard iMac. It stops and starts for no apparent reason and I cannot use either Firefox or Safari while it's running. How do I revert back a couple of releases, to when it just ran like a bird and didn't affect anything else?

Just updated to 1.75 on Ubuntu and the IP Blocklist went to 0 and when I click update it instantly says list was updated to 0... Hopefully its a blocklist problem and not 1.75 issue. Other than that though the program is running smooth and fast on Ubuntu. Not using like any CPU at all and very little ram ex:7MB

Brainformat - You can get newest version always from http://www.getdeb.net. Its uploaded by ppl that compile it or you can add one of the repos somewhere on transmission site under Ubuntu from a launchpad page it links to, to get it. Getdeb is usually the easiest way to get the .deb file which I wish they would just do on the transmission site. The IP blocklist is working again fine and everything is working great. 1.75 is a great release and success for Ubuntu. Love it to death!

I will put this as simply as I can...I have been using Transmission for around two years now...I have kept all of my Transmission "preferences" basically the same in that period...I only adjust my upload rates now and then...this new version "1.75' has slowed everything down ( my general internet surfing ) FAR MORE than any previous version...it doesnt seem to matter what upload rate I choose... and I have tried many ( all of which are the upload rates I have used before )...its just slowing everything down like never before...I am considering going back to a previous version...I'm wondering whats up?...smiles..Pete

I have this behavior as well. But I upgraded from 1.52 to 1.75 (while trying to figure out why my partition was heavly fragmented, and then formatting it with ext4 and setting "preallocation" to 2 to see if it helps), so I can't tell if other versions had this effect. I reverted to 1.72 and the speed is manageable now. But this only happens when downloading torrents (throughout the entire download), if I'm seeding them I don't notice any lag in the internet connection.

I'm using Gentoo Linux, kernel 2.6.31 (also used 2.6.30).

edit: also NO cpu usage problems (around 15~30%) or disk performance issues (new formatted ext4 partition), disk can write at 80mb/s

check that, Transmission 1.72 is making the same thing with larger torrents.
Also I used the "set data location" with the move data, and it destroyed the data of two 30gb torrent files, so I had to download them again... time to get another torrent software :/
