Just wanted to thank you for the quick help, it did not solve the problem directly, but it did lead me to the solution. It turns out that if you have a short between the ears, it will result in an operator error, and cause program crashes.

I have been using transmission for a few months with no issues, yesterday it started crashing after about 1 min of download. If I pause all downloads it does not crash.
