transmission is not listed as an app to open torrents, I have to set it to all programs (in the 'open with' window), then I can choose it.
when I try to set transmission to open all torrents in the 'get info' window, it jumps back to opera.

An update, restarting the program several times seemed to eventually solve the problem.

I generally don't have issues with upload or download speeds when downloading torrents.
