I ran parodyr's adjustment to the network settings from a few pages back and am happy as a lark now, everything's fine. Haven't had a hang once, throttled or not, and am now abusing my 50mbit u/d line to the max

As I stated above, it's already attached by cable. However, a little experimenting has resolved the problem. I was fiddling with the Airport Extreme and it hung on me, such that a reset didn't help: I had to go back to factory defaults. After re-entering all the settings, suddenly the problem was ...

Oh, a side note for those still getting this problem: I also noticed that once you're "hanging" it IS still possible to rightclick the Transmission icon in the Dock and Force Quit it. It takes a few minutes, but eventually the task does die. Hopefully that will help those who are still having the ...

bothaus: on what do you base that conclusion? I would think that very unlikely. uTorrent is still made and maintained by Bittorrent inc, so they would be shooting their own protocol in the foot, or am I missing something?
