so the question remains, does this work on snow leopard? if it is supposed to, are file permissions an issue maybe?
I am no longer having this issue at all. Running stock 10.6.1, with Transmission 1.74 release (8993).
However, if you are having a network slowdown and then system freeze, it ...

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death
[*] Lastly -- and admittedly this is more opinion than fact -- everyone reading this should tell kidmidnight that it's probably a bug in his router.

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death
x190 in light of linenoise's findings, I think you bring up a good point (which is that Apple clearly isn't aware of the problem or at least how severe it is). I have submitted the problem through the normal channels (i.e. bug report submissions) but I'm afraid that my submission is below the ...

Man this thread is an endless source of entertainment. I can see why livings124 is giving monosyllabic responses.
Billinsky, here I fixed your statement for you: "Editing system conf files to get Leopard networking running in an acceptable way is not a good solution"

Re: AirPort Extreme and minimal upload speed challenges
It's possible that even with your very good attempt at allowing port mapping through (the huge range you set), that something is awry. I suggest you place the computer you are doing the transmission on, inside the DMZ which with Apple's products is called "default host." (under manual setup ...

Re: Transmission kills connection
Bittorrent protocol is very network intensive. It sounds like you've exposed a bug in your router software/firmware. I would guess if you swapped out the router for another brand you wouldn't have the problem. If that's not something you can easily do, maybe look online to see if your router ...

Re: % of torrent downloaded going down, then up, then down, etc
I've heard of torrent swarms that get poisoned. Apparently people either swap out data while seeding, or change the tracker servers, or something. I'm gonna be honest here and say I don't know much about it. But it sounds like what your are experiencing.

Re: move data file, putting it back in a same location, 2 moves
I don't see a way around this. Manually moving files without the "Move data file to" command has always resulted in corrupted data for me. But I'm no expert, someone else chime in if I'm wrong.

Re: Pausing one torrent Pauses all torrents
That behavior is very strange, never seen that personally. When I see goofball bugs like that in *any* software, one of the first things I do is remove the program's preference files.

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death
kidmidnight, I have solved the bug for myself. I used Parodyr's solution, and it worked a treat. The only reason I'm continuing to read this thread is to try to help others out (read: you). The reason I ask about your router is because, as I just mentioned, a friend was having a similar problem with ...

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death
Kidmidnight, out of curiosity, what brand and make of router are you using? I ask because I saw a lot of transmission/leopard crashes go away for a friend after he switched routers of all things. Just wondering if this might be an element to the puzzle we haven't explored yet.

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death
kidmidnight,
I stopped looking after I found four references to this being a leopard problem, not just a transmission one. I hope they suffice.
From this thread, regarding utorrent:

If you've read this thread, there are many many reports that this networking bug occurs with utorrent and Azeureus as well. Not everyone reports this, but there are many in this thread alone.

Re: Transmission takes forever to quit
That is a pretty pointless suggestion.
I understand where you are coming from, but I can also see why the two posters previous feel that stopping the transfers first, then quitting is actually a better idea. Here's why: If you simply quit Transmission, then the app could remain unresponsive for 3 ...
