I'm using the 1.80 beta 1, and download speeds are GOOD!! Really fast, but Transmissions keeps freezing my system, making everything unresponsive, slow and jerky - Finder, Safari, Transmission it self, Spotlight. Pretty much everything. Last night it made Finder go haywire with 70% CPU.
