I've been seeing this behavior for years. Under Mojave it's less than a 10% success rate to get Transmission.app (2.94) to even start up and run. Typically it just stars bouncing in the Dock, then stops, and ends up in Activity Monitor as "Transmission (Not Responding)". I suspect this has...

I once had a script to do exactly this, but it's long gone, and I can't recall all the details of Transmission's workings to recreate it. It is possible though! I thought that by now Transmission would have implemented Bulk Tracker Name Changing.

If you have your torrents segregated into different "tabs" (i.e. Groups) within Transmission then CLOSED Groups should NOT have all the files within them invisibly selected. Especially since when Select All-ing the Group labels do not show as selected! This is bad UI design. >:-(

I have a solution to at least part of this problem (which persists under OSX Mavericks 10.9.5 and Transmission 2.84) It appears that there is some mechanism in the "watch for torrent files in" tool (and/or the add to Transmission feature) that is broken, and/or just cannot handle more than...

Could we have a little 1D10T insulation, please? A simple WARNING message would have prevented my current situation where I'm looking at a nearly frozen Mac.
