Yeah well, didn't look like a human. I wasn't aware of such thing, didn't see his sig either. Next time I will just report a post like that.

I am afraid I don't understand you, Sir. You have exactly quoted this post: http://forum.transmissionbt.com/viewtop ... t=0#p44599 .
Did something got cut out or you want me to restate my answer ? or what is the point of your question ?

Re: Smoothening upload distribution. Hope for a discussion.
lol nice connection, also no wonder it's hard to get 10 times more down/up stream ratio. Especially for relatively high values.
Any way after this little discourse from the main topic I have to say that cannot think of anything more than presented. It would be nice to have someone brighter to shed ...

Hehe I have also noticed it though I assumed he just didn't press shift at 200 KB /s. Otherwise the post would not make much sense. On the other hand 1,5MB download and 60KB (again assuming he meant KiloBytes )up seems just too asynchronous to me ...

Re: Smoothening upload distribution. Hope for a discussion.
yeah ... well it really strange in my opinion, that there is such difference. 1,5MB vs 200KB is order of magnitude .. and on download... truly I have no idea what might be the cause. It might be it is the same for upload but I have nothing on mind that would make sense.
Umm... actually the issue I ...

Re: Smoothening upload distribution. Hope for a discussion.
Hmm... you could check two things. For me setting limits at ~60% worked. The peaks were probably less harmful.
The second option is to do what I have done. Get the sources change this one value to 100 and build your custom version. It is relatively easy on systems with package managers, which is ...

Re: Always verify local data after torrent finishes.
Still seem very very strange. At least to me. A piece is verified right after its downloaded. Could you please help me and present idea how the heck it can be reported corrupted afterwards ? This is what I don't get and can't imagine.

Re: to program start and closing hour
Yo, in short you cannot, at least from within Transmission.
It would be possible for Transmission to close itself, but not start. Application cannot start itself so it would be system/platform dependant.Well... it could be programmed but would be a bit painful, since it would have to be done for ...

Re: Always verify local data after torrent finishes.
It's just my two bits. Not that I am against a feature, though don't you think it's redundant ?
I think torrent protocol forces a hash check on every piece as it is downloaded, if it is not in the protocol itself any sane client do so. You'd like to run it again after getting the whole file.

Re: Transmission interferes with network performance
Umm I know this is kind of obvious, though you haven't stated it. You are sure that Transmission limits are set (well) below your bandwidth's ?
Torrent protocol is rather aggressive... I mean, it usually can drain any available bits you have there. Unfortunately don't want this to occur :) when you ...

Re: Smoothening upload distribution. Hope for a discussion.
Hello,
I am sorry for the late reply though I've had some troubles when it turned out that my modem doesn't work with 2.6.32 kernel after I have upgraded system on my router.
@Longinus.
To compensate I have set up the limit higher then the bandwidth I wanted to use. I have mentioned it. I wanted to ...

Re: Smoothening upload distribution. Hope for a discussion.
Thanks for a reply.
That's precisely what I meant and was searching for.
My network stresser point was to emulate Transmission's behaviour outputting data twice a second. The other run was to show that with finer data ( send() calls distribution ) over time it works better.
About the typical ...

Re: Smoothening upload distribution. Hope for a discussion.
OK, a bit late although I have checked it pretty throughly.
Research:
This is output from my network stresser:
limit set to 70kBps time interval between send() calls 0.05s (measured every 0.2s)
[ 28.1798150539 ] sent: 68.6216779049 kBps, rcvd: 0.0 kBps [ 14336 / 0 B from 1 alive and 0 finished ...

Yeah I see no reason why wouldn't it work. I have tried speedtest and I think that the remaining bandwidth is enough for http requests. At least I tried ruling out the option with insufficient bandwidth. I will recheck, though with my app I got really stable upload at abt ...
