Re: DHT Peer Discovery Demanding on Network?

So I guess there's probably no way to reduce its impact? Is it restricted by the global peer limits in any way? I'm thinking I may be premature in thinking DHT was the only culprit, as my network performance is still poor (thought disabling DHT definitely helped). I've set my global peer limit to 30...

DHT Peer Discovery Demanding on Network?

So I've been trying to track down poor performance on my network, and found that Transmission was to blame (well, my ISP provided router is probably to blame as well, as they're usually not great but I have no choice). Anyway, after discovering this I've tried various ways to reduce the impact on th...

Unsupported Features for Completion Script?

Okay, so I have Transmission setup to run headless, and I have a script that runs on completion, as well as a few other scripts to handle automatically setting priority, peers etc. for new torrents and so-on. Anyway, until recently, these had a lot of duplicate variables and functions, so decided to...

Equivalent to "Resume Now" in transmission-remote?

I'm using a script to add torrents to Transmission via transmission-remote, however to save on resources I have download/seed queuing enabled, so most of the time a torrent is added it starts queued. However, there are some torrents I would like to make an exception for which start immediately upon ...

Re: Bluetack block lists are now pay only - Free alternative

What form of Transmission are you using? Are you using an RPC username:password? *facepalms* You're right, I was calling transmission-remote directly instead of my shortcut that supplies the RPC values for me, I just assumed because that was the error I was getting with the non-functional blacklist...

Re: Bluetack block lists are now pay only - Free alternative

The closest free alternative is the TBG "Primary Threats" blocklist. This can be used with Transmission by editing the "settings.json" config file and changing the blocklist-url to: http://list.iblocklist.com/?list=ijfqtofzixtwayqovmxn&fileformat=p2p&archiveformat=gz I'v...

How to a Find a Torrent's Hash with transmission-remote?

Okay, so I currently have Transmission v2.82 and I'm trying to write a little helper script, but to run most commands on transmission-remote you need to know the hash of a torrent, but I'm hoping to instead do it by name. However, I can't seem to find a way to do that with only transmission-remote, ...

Re: Web Interface Suddenly Not Working

Thanks for the suggestion! It wasn't the bind address though, somehow I was ending up with two transmission-daemon process; I still haven't figured out why that was happening, but an uninstall, restart then re-install was successful once I noticed the rogue process. The two must have been fighting f...

Web Interface Suddenly Not Working

Okay so I've been trying for ages to fix this to no avail. Quite simply I had transmission working just fine yesterday, but today the web interface is refusing to work at all and just throws up "The server denies connections" errors (HTTP 504) in Safari. I haven't changed any settings, upd...

Re: Does Transmission Support the Use of Sparse Files?

Thanks for the replies! In that case I may need to do some more head-scratching till I figure out why Transmission slows down so much when a new torrent is added; it doesn't really interfere much (lasts about a minute tops), I might have a fidget with some other settings to see if maybe I just have ...

Does Transmission Support the Use of Sparse Files?

As the title says, I'm interested in whether or not Transmission supports the use of sparse files? I'm running Transmission as a headless daemon on Linux on an ext4 volume, it's a NAS I'm running on so it's not the most powerful machine, and I notice that when adding large torrents Transmission hang...

Re: On Completion Script Silently Failing?

Oh my god. *facepalms* I re-checked the script permissions and somehow I managed to set group and everyone to executable, but not owner. I have no idea how that's even possible as I'm pretty sure I just used the usual "chmod +x foo" command, but the script seems to be running exactly as ex...

Re: On Completion Script Silently Failing?

The 2nd most common mistake is to assume PATH is defined the same as the user's path (which makes the script work fine on a terminal test, but not when run from transmission). But if the log doesn't show the script being called, then that's not relevant. As you say it doesn't seem likely, plus I've...

Re: On Completion Script Silently Failing?

Thanks for the tip, it looks like the configuration location Transmission reports is just a link to the folder I was editing anyway. The settings are definitely being updated as I've tweaked other things like disabling the download queue, enabled RPC password etc., which are all working as expected,...

On Completion Script Silently Failing?

Okay, so I have Transmission setup "headless" on my NAS, and I have a script setup to run on completion. However, it doesn't. I've triple-checked the path to my script (which is given as an absolute path) and that "script-torrent-done-enabled" is set to true, however the script j...
