Transmission has always done this. If you only download one file from a multi-file torrent, it'd create the file in front of the one you want, and allocate the full space that file needs even though most of that memory won't be needed. Yes, it is quite annoying.

Haven't had a relapse since the nightly builds that promised to fix it. Looking good!

Happened again. This time I was downloading a single mp3 file out of a torrent with multiple mp3s. On Transmission's own error log before it crashed, it listed something about pieces failing a hash check, and downloading them again. Dunno if that's related.
