"full" is the best preallocation for ext4. The preallocation should be almost instantaneous.
I just turned to ext4.A 4.3G .mkv stills takes about 8 mins to preallocate. It would be great if there's an option for selecting preallocation type instead of tweaking conffile after killing TR when comes ...

What type of preallocation is best for ext4?
Jordan mentions "It could, in cases where you haven't already preallocated your files. But its main goal is to batch up disk IO, not to reduce fragmentation. The better solution is to use the default preallocation on a modern filesystem -- even ext4 will do -- where preallocation can be done at the ...

What number do you set for cache-size-mb?
I am using ar71xx(400mhz) based router running on OPENWRT and found 2.21 a bit slower than 2.13.We can use nice or renice to initialize transmission with higher pri to get better performance while processes fighting for resources in these kinds of low ...

Re: Upload speed surpassing limit
I got the same problem since I use transmission through 2.21.When transmission is downloading something, actual upload speed usually exceed the limitation I set.To the contrary, when only seeding no downloads runing, actual download speed is quite smillar to the value I set.In this case,I set upload ...

Re: Transmission starts with a wrong ConfigDIR with a "?"
I think is not that case.rc.local is gernerate by linux system itself.Format must be suitable, and I use vi to alter won't change format.rb07 wrote:Have you checked with "vi -b" or a plain "od -c" ?
The editor vi doesn't show \r usually, and doesn't automatically correct DOS format files.

Transmission starts with a wrong ConfigDIR with a "?"
I put start command as below into rc.local

# Put your custom commands here that should be executed once
# the system init finished. By default this file does nothing.

I'm using a embeded system with 64MB RAM to do 7*24 leeching.Should I increase cache-size-mb greatter than default 2MB to protect HDD? Re: Why not support limiting simultaneous download missions?
Right now transmission can only limit total missions. But as we know seeding missions won't consume too much cpu load. But downloading will.

[Locked duplicate] limiting simultaneous download missions?
Too many download missions at the same time consumes CPU load and lead to unexpected reboot. To Manually limit is boardersome. So author please add the support for limiting simultaneous download missions. That would be nice for low-profile NAS.
