Keeping on the bleeding edge with Transmission SVN updates is fun.
But a few days back I noticed in the "about" window for T. that it is stuck at version:
2.33+ (12637) on Ubuntu 10.04
How come? As 2.33+ (12804) is already out!
Does anyone have an idea?

Remember that the main goal of the program is sharing.
And lots of it.
Having bandwidth settings, timers and what not, are nice at home.
On a server that is piping 10+ TiB a month it's all wasted fluff.
All the whistles and bells around it are nice, but deviate from the main objective.

Hey Nick,
No direct "time" scheduling that I know of.
(You could look at the "add-ons", if there is some utility that performs that function)
If you want some breathing room while surfing and stuff, configure the temporary speed limits.
And disable it if you leave, to let it run full throttle ...

SVN creates its own directory under /home/**your user name here**/Transmission, with its own set of dependencies.
Highest version wins on startup, simply speaking.
I would start the SVN install anew, if I was you.
Are you using "apt-get" to update/upgrade?
What system are you installing on?

This goes to show that doing some more reading in other places pays.
I was stuck after the SVN update worked in that I couldn't get it to install the newest trunk https://build.transmissionbt.com/job/trunk-linux/ .
Here is what I found, that is working for me ...

Hi,
"Group" ownership may be the culprit.
But look at group ownership for the other Transmission directories and files.
Regards,
Danny

Holy Moly !
I did it!
Thanks a bunch!
Just be sure to run it as sudo or su when fiddling to configure and installing libevent. Duh!
Not sure what I did right though, as the first couple of times it failed. Hehe. ;-)
But errors about "permission denied" point to it that root access is needed ...

rpc-password and rpc-username are the ones to modify.
The password encrypts after starting the daemon again, and becomes garbled.
The values are between double quotes!

Hi,
can't help you with your first question, as I'm stuck myself with the installer not finding "libevent"
in both tarball and SVN. :-/
This beta has to be made from tarball or SVN. No automatic upgrade!
