OSX Transmission 2.92 (14714) not show 2.93 udpate
1. I was catching up on a private torrent forum when I read about a security vulnerability with 2.92. I did an update check with Transmission but said I was up-to-date despite using 2.92 on a Mac 3,1 with OSX 10.11.6 I don't know what's gone wrong there but considering it is a security update, the O...

Unable to open specific torrent files with Transmission, is there any workaround or fix?
I have an issue where a downloaded .torrent file (two of them) are not recognised by Transmission via a private torrent site. I recall I had this issue with a torrent a couple years ago. I tried Vuse and whilst it opened the torrent file ok, it is not setup for private torrent use. I've tried both d...

Overall upload speed setting not control all uploads
I've noticed for several Transmission versions (if not for years) that hosts uploading may go over the maximum upload set in preferences. The only way to control this is to set the maximum for the specific seeding torrent file. This over-riding the main settings actually upsets the balance of bandwi...

Re: Transmission (I believe) is panic crashing OS X Lion
Reply by a general observer: Many people are aware OS X Lion is bug-filled and memory leakage filled - even for Mac's own apps. Perhaps Upgrade? I never tried Lion due to all I read about its unreliabilities. Lion is best forgotten. :( But hey Lion & Mountain Lion are so cheap to buy. Although I...

UPnP unreliability for Mac Transmission - false green lights
Perhaps this is router brand or model issue, but I do have my doubts. A moderator from a private torrent site reported to me last December there's a high number of Transmission users who are firewalled. The issue is, in the Transmission settings/preferences under the Network tab section it can give ...

Re: Check for Updates before connecting to Torrents
Thank you. I have submitted a ticket, hopefully correctly. :) From what I've read, as you are probably aware the way Transmission updates results in the program breaching bittorrent protocol with duplicate announcements within less than 60 seconds. For many private torrent sites whom are super fussy...

Check for Updates before connecting to Torrents
Request: Transmission checks for updates before connecting to torrent tracker servers when the program opens. Reason: With Transmission connecting to torrents, then announcing an update which installs and restarts the program, this results in 'Hammering'. For private torrents it can put the torrent...

Re: Inspector does not display UL speed correctly for peers
I've just tested Transmission 2.80 on OSX 10.8.3 via Parallels. I do get upload figures in the inspector but the speeds do not match the overall program upload speed. Example, the program upload for the single torrent is around 60 KB/s but most hosts in the inspector are showing minimal upload speed...

Re: Inspector does not display UL speed correctly for peers
Transmission 2.80 Uploading torrent. Inspector shows the client, their download % which does change but no figures for upload. On the program's main interface it shows the torrent as uploading but strangely gives zero figure for connected peers. I guess this affects different people in a different w...

Re: Request: Separate View options for Uploads and Downloads
I have no idea about Transmission because I have not checked, but custom view settings are usually stored within a particular settings file for most file-sharing programs. This may include main interface dimensions, column choice and location and width, the 'sort by' choice, for each of the Windows ...

Request: Separate View options for Uploads and Downloads
Ideally the view options for each of Uploads and Downloads would be separate, and perhaps also for Activity Window. Here's an example of what I mean. 9 downloads fluctuating all over the place every second becomes dizzying and very difficult to follow what each one is doing. I prefer to view Downloa...

Re: Port not closing down upon quitting Transmission
I want to thank you for your response. Whilst I am still concerned the attempts through the same ports lasted for a couple of hours, whereas Vuse's public site equivalents only lasted 10-15 mins, I do understand.

Re: Port not closing down upon quitting Transmission
As I edited in later ... sorry you must have replied in meantime .. this is non-stop and Vuse does not do this despite it uses many public torrent sites. I tried opening Vuse, shutdown. All went quiet with its connections minutes after closing down. If nobody from the private torrent sites has been ...

Port not closing down upon quitting Transmission
This is a problem that was not uncommon with some earlier p2p file-sharing programs. I noticed this the other day and was suspicious all the stealth attempts in my firewall console might have been Transmission related. I use more than one file-sharing protocol. Today might have confirmed the issue. ...

Re: Transmission not connecting to Peers
Try downloading a 'common' torrent from a well-known torrent site with 'many' seeds. Preferably a small'ish torrent so it's not hard on your bandwidth. ie: google something that you think might be 'very' highly popular and put torrent on the end of the search criteria. Then try it. Keep in mind, pub...
