mangaphreak: Can you try x190's suggestions. Transmission 2.2 is better at connecting to peers, and as a result your network might not be able to handle it with the current settings.

Shouldn't this have shown with the beta versions of 2.20 then…?! It worked just fine until I updated to the final ...

I too used to have extreme freezes and crashes with older versions of Transmission until maybe one and a half year ago (not sure which version it was) it all went away and Transmission became usable again -- until the final release of 2.20 a few days ago…!

This is the worst release of Transmission in a very long time -- at least for me…!It seems to have re-introduced a bug/problem that I (and several other people) have regularly had to struggle with until maybe 12-16 months ago when for some reason it went away and Transmission became usable again ...

Okay, I don't know what's causing this kind of behaviour, but it's still unchanged with the current b6 version and it is really annoying...! Not only because of the sluggishness of Transmission itself but also because it occasionally happens to affect other apps, which is just unaccaptable...!

I really can't track down the cause of this...! :(

Right now I am donwloading two torrents, each around 4 GB and one dl'ing from 16, the other from 19 peers -- and Transmission keeps stalling and beachballing all the time...! I can't even bring the app to the foreground, let alone do anything to ...

When it beach balls for you guys are you downloading new files, or are you only seeding?

In my case it only seems to happen when downloading files and only when I am connected to many peers...

Also I think it's an old problem that has returned with the recent version...!? I used to experience ...

I must say that I have also experienced some sluggishness over the last few versions and that right now Transmission is 'beachballing' heavily...! :(

OS X does have a tendency to lock up totally or freeze for a very long time when drives disappear. There's not really much an application can do about it, as it gets stuck inside the OS (eg. if an external drive locks up, trying to access it via the Finder causes the Finder to lock up, trying to ...

Okay, I think I may have found what's causing my problems: it only happens when I download stuff directly to an external USB drive...! No problems at all when I download only to my internal drive...

But again -- it doesn't really matter ...

Well, what bothers me is that I can't get rid of it once it locks up...! No matter whether I kill the process in Activity Monitor or do a Force Quit -- it stays there and won't go away...!? And the only way to get things up and runnignis to reboot the whole Mac...! :x

Lately the current version (1.40) of Transmission just freezes up after a while, especially when trying to handle several large downloads at a time...! The problem is that it becomes totally unresponsive and even when I force-quit it or kill the process it still doesn't shut down...! :x
