2.84 Daemon not working in Yosemite
Ok, after breaking my head a lot, I tried to re-download the source and build again with the new Xcode6. They builder gives about 30 updates to the code, and if you don't accept them you get stuck. After accepting the changes, you can select build, but it fails in less than a second with missing fil...

Re: Transmission quit unexpectedly Mavericks
I don't know if this will help you guys find the issue but, Since I switched to transmission daemon 2.8x, every time it is managing (downloading and uploading) a lot of GB at the same time the software simply crashes at random. My solution for this was to activate only a single torrent at all times....

Re: Daemon basics - How To?
Well, that's very interesting. I'm sorry for what I missed, but what exactly is very interesting? Updating the issue, I managed to launch transmission-daemon on system startup using OSX launchd. The problem is that I can NOT use the launchd keep alive option, because it simply starts a new instance ...

Re: Daemon basics - How To?
OMG, I could finally put it to work, i didn't change any permissions. Just configured it from remote and it's already downloading, auto-ading, and everything. (Just did 500MB, so it's way beyond cache limits.) Thumbs up to blacke4dawn  Now, next question is about Mac OSX launchd cap...

Daemon basics - How To?
Ok guys, Im very tired to roam around the wiki reading scripts and trying all possible and imaginable setups ever. I promise that after i'm successful trying to run my transmission daemon, I WILL write down some as-detailed-as-i-can-possibly-do documentation for running transmission daemon on a maci...

Re: Ignores config file
I don't understand, how do I start something via service?nuhzaw wrote:So always start transmission via service transmission-daemon start; this way it will not have root rights and will read the correct config from /etc/.
(what exactly is this? LoL sorry the ignorance.)

Re: launchd
Start-up scripts are discussed in Transmission's wiki. I was looking precisely for them, already tried the wiki, I found the scripts page but I really don't understand a thing about what's there. That's why I asked if someone could teach me the procedures to launch the transmission daemon. ...

Re: launchd
Ok, I give up! I downloaded Xcode, built it, tried to plist a daemon, but I had just exactly the same result. I think I am trying to start the usual app instead of the daemon scripts. Re plist: Don't you need to start transmission-daemon (Xcode again) not the .app? The app would require login? Sorry...

Re: launchd
Once everything is set-up and running, all one have to do is add this code to the plist, and you have transmission running with whatever user you write down inside the following string. <key>UserName</key> <string>user</string> Only the plist file must be owned by root for the system to start the da...

Re: launchd
Ok guys, I have just managed to create a working plist file. The problem is that it only launches the transmission app after ANY user logs in, what pretty much defeats the propose of making an automated script. What it looks like is that the system loads everything right away, but transmission waits...

Re: launchd
Well, that's precisely what I am requesting in this topic: A build of Transmission that can be launched via OSX launchd, without the need to install Xcode. And it's not the app that would require login. What I meant is that anything added to the "pref-pane login items" would require that s...

Re: launchd
Problem is, I don't know what elements must be written in this specific plist file. I tried this according to OSX dev website (didn't work): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/Prope...
