Thanks for the suggestions. Turning off DHT did indeed reduce the outgoing traffic (as seen from the router) significantly.

But 1 GB of DHT data sent per day? That's crazy.

Hello, I've got Transmission running on Ubuntu 14.04. I have noticed that it is generating network activity even when there are no torrents shown in the GUI.
