I've had to roll back to the previous version 2.92-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 to get it to work again. Could this be something different between the package for 16.04 and the one for 16.10?

I have experienced the same problem, luckily the previous working version 2.92-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 /var/cache/apt/archives/ and installed from there.
