I really don't know what client it is, though...

In Transmission -> Preferences -> Peers Lower your "Global maximum connections" and "Maximum connections for new transfers". I can't recall what the default setting is, but try knocking 50-75 off each of those numbers and see if that helps.

Jethryn, could there be some weird peculiarity with that torrent?

Is the swarm poisoned? Possible, especially if its public.

Did you have it in Transmission before you updated to the builds fixing this issue? Perhaps there's some odd peculiarity that causes the bug to persist on "legacy" torrents ...

Using 1.06+ (5294) I just did this: 'Have' 350.6MB, 'Downloaded' 352.4MB ... with a 'Failed DL' of ... 0 bytes.

Update: later downloaded around 1GB of data, with a 'Failed DL' of 0 bytes.

Update : Okay, having just 'Downloaded' approx. 190MB, my 'Failed DL ...

I ran Disk Utility to verify my h/d, and it came out okay.

I'm now using 1.06+ 5209 .

I've just been downloading a torrent from a reliable, private tracker using build 1.06+ (5179) on OS X 10.5.2 over a 1MBit connection, connected to between 190-200 peers of 200 discovered. This is my failed data:
