Re: Osprey 25.5.2 zaps bandwidth - PLEASE BAN

I have seen this as well, so I don't think it is a coincidence. Transmission was uploading a piece from near the end of a large seeding file (a cd image of fedora), at a location of all zeroes. Perhaps something in this Osprey program doesn't like receiving all zeroes for some reason. This same IP r...

Re: Opening Port Help!

The port may be open. I don't think the port check thing Transmission uses (when you go to the transmission settings) always works. And the debug messages may be confusing. I think the messages mean that forwarding is successful. Try netstat and check if there are connections using transmission's po...

Re: How does transmission store information about torrents?

I use transmission-gtk, and I can change the directory it looks for a torrent's files in the torrent's resume file: ~/.config/transmission/resume/ torrentname , which is a b-encoded file (so use a hex editor, and know enough of the rules of b-encoding), but I don't know of a way to change the file n...

Re: How can I turn off "Verifying Local Data" in 1.40?

Maybe Transmission could be changed in several ways to check the files quicker, but the hash-check step is very necessary to ensure against bad data being uploaded and corrupt downloads. I guess you leave your computer on? If you look in the preferences, Transmission has a crude scheduler to set alt...

Re: Can Transmission 1.42 tell my tracker that it's not 1.42?

It says on the website that they've updated transmission. So you should be able to load a new version of the freetz software onto your fritz box, after you compile it (there are likely instructions on their website). The new Transmission may then work with "your" tracker. (Whose tracker?) ...

Re: Firefox and transmission on Linux

Hi, for me the download location setting works. In the ~/.config/transmission/settings.json I have: "download-dir": "\/home\/chris\/torrentdls", which is what I've set. I would check this file. Possibly it is wrong or corrupted. Also, have you checked in your home directory for t...

Re: Firefox and transmission on Linux

I tried it using firefox on ubuntu and it works for me. (Transmission was already running. I clicked a link to a torrent file, firefox asked me what I wanted to do with it, I chose to open it with Transmission, Transmission then asked whether I wished to add the file.) I am using Transmission 1.42+....

Re: Problems installing from source to headless server

After deciding to install needed files for dbus and libnotify support, I had a similar issue, with odd errors, despite earlier successfully compiling the program. What I needed to do was run make clean first.

Re: only transmission 1.22 works

I use the transmission made from the svn checkout, and it works ok. I have ubuntu 8.10 .

There are instructions on how to do this on transmission's website.

Have you tried a different bittorrent program?
