Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death

I've been away for about 3 months. Now that i've come back and updated to 1.42, the freezing seems to have stopped, no matter what my peer limit is. Thanks for whatever you did in this update.
Cheers

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death

Still getting the freeze despite doing a clean install of Leopard! Using 1.34. Had global max peers set to 150 and new transfers to 40. Funny thing is that the most recent freeze happened while in Speed limit mode of 0, so there was no data being downloaded/uploaded. All I was doing was adding new ...

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death

I've switched back to 1.22 (BitRocket was making me cry).

Things appear much more stable, so I'm going to stick with this and monitor this thread for a fix.

As for the InsanelyMac thread, I'm not using a hackintosh -- I've got a real Mac. An iMac with an onboard NIC to be specific.

I stand ...

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death

I can confirm that Transmission 1.33+ (6741) still freezes with a lower peer connection limit. I set mine to a Global max of 150 and max for new transfers at 40. I also went round to my friends' place and and asked her about her Macbook Pro. She confirmed that she'd been having exactly the same ...

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death

If every app is beachballing, it clearly could be an issue with hardware/operating system.

Unfortunately this problem only happened for me when I updated from 1.22 to 1.3+, and I didn't change any hardware nor update any part of OSX, so I think it more likely that Transmission is the source. My ...

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death

Argh, there are definitely still issues with these new builds. I came back to my computer after a night of transferring and the screen saver was frozen, so I couldn't even get into see a beachball or have the option to quit. p.s. All my torrents are on an internal drive.

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death

I tried rev 6700 last night, and it was the first time in 2 weeks my system didn't freeze upon interaction with Transmission after a few hours. I first checked Activity Monitor, which seemed to be hanging, so with a sigh, i thought it was completely frozen again. However, Transmission was still ...

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death

I guess because I thought the other one had a more appropriate name....but neither of them are good really. It should be something like "Transmission 1.22 - 1.33 causing permanent system-wide freeze/hang" or something similar. I've pointed to this one from the other thread now.
I really hope one of ...

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death

This had been happening to me for a while now.

It seems to hang the entire system. Stuff kind of works, but then everything beachballs. I've noticed it really only happens on very large torrents (1 gig and up) or lots of small torrents running at the same time.
....
To sum up:
1. Your entire ...

Re: Transmission causes leopard slow death

+1 here. Only started happening when I upgraded from 1.22 to 1.32. 1.33 hasn't fixed it either. I close down all apps (sometimes leave Firefox on), begin transmission, and everything looks fine. Then I wake up in the morning and it's frozen. I can do a couple of things like switch tabs in Firefox ...
