I just found that my port for Transmission was closed again in my gateway. I had a port that it liked, but it changed its mind. It only remembers some ports when it is power cycled. Finally had time to install the daemon. Transmission-show is very nice.

I remember, sometime in the past that installing the daemon via apt uninstalled the gui, but now it works fine.

I don't know how that works. Currently, I just run the client - transmission-gtk. I don't think I run the daemon at all. I'm figuring out how to get a NAS to work and when I do, I may start playing with the daemon and web interface.
