OK....when i get an opportunity i will attempt to add block lists and try a download....thanks again...and sorry for the exasperation i caused you guys...not to mention my dumb ass self...

thanx man....hey..i was adding blocklists from "iblocklist.com".....and renamed in the blocklist folder so i knew what they are...how do you add an "allow" list? also....even though i believe i added what i needed/wanted to add..how do we click on the list to see what it contains? when i click on it it seems to copy/replicate it to a list called cpgz or something like that? what is that exactly? id just like to know that the lists i have added are indeed the right ones. the allow list i was speaking of is a P2P allow list that works in peer-block...and i guess peer guardian as well. i think i am making headway..i am just not confident that i am indeed blocking what id like to. again..in windows its so easy..just add multiple lists in peer block and you can see exactly what domain/s is being blocked..it works seamlessly..i think....i mean who really knows for certain?

they dont tell you how to find the damn library!
It's six blocks straight down that way and then half a block to your right.

(Sorry, I couldn't resist that one.)

If you don't already have it, it's that 2.42.dmg that you should be using, or more precisely, the Transmission.app that it contains.
saw that coming...are those directions for where i reside?! let me guess you used google maps....

Only one blocklist can be auto-updated by Transmission. It is up to you to select that url and insert it yourself. Your other blocklists have to be manually updated by inserting current lists in text form into the Blocklist folder and restarting Transmission.

I found out that Even though I had specified Level 1 to update when I hit update in transmission, Badpeers was the one that was updated and was around 1.8Mb, which is the size of Level1 list. I realized that this was the case because Badpeers was first alphabetically in the blocklist folder.
In order to Update List1 automatically I had to make Level1 list appear first alphabetically so I renamed it "aa Level1 -blocklist.bin" Which came first even before "Badpeers -blocklist.bin" Thus Level1 updated and I had to redownload badpeers list since it was over written.

Easy Procedure to Manually update Lists within the Blocklist Folder:
To manually update the other lists you can simply go to the block list folder (while Transmission is not running) and make sure that the list you are trying to update is positioned first alphabetically by temporarily renaming it something like "1 listname -blocklist.bin", then restart transmission, then copy and paste the list corresponding URL then hit Update.
Quit Transmission and rename the next list to be first, and update it following the same procedure.

I've completed all the steps originally listed on page 1 of the thread but the blocklists are not showing up as active. Anybody have a clue as to why this would be happening? Thanks for the help.

I'm having trouble with the following step:

11. Open up transmission, select "window" -> "message log" http://img251.imageshack.us/i/transmssg.png/ (click on the bottom left of that window and select "info" instead of "error" or "debug" http://img64.imageshack.us/i/transmission3.png/ and look at the status of your peer block list. It should say on the right-hand side: peer blacklist "level 1blocklist.bin" has 213046 inquiries (ip addresses) and so on so forth- for the other blocklists you may have added. http://img339.imageshack.us/i/transmission2.png/

I followed all the steps before this correctly, at least I think I did, and I am not seeing any of the blocklists on the status report. I know it is almost impossible for anyone to pinpoint what I have done wrong without actually seeing the screen, but I'm hoping there is some obvious step that I may have overlooked. Thanks for the help.

I'm new to all of this stuff, so if I am missing something obvious, please hold back juuuuuust a little bit on calling me out.

x190, thanks for the help. I realized that I had too many blocklists (4MB maximum, I guess) that I was trying to run simultaneously. I deleted a few of them and it appears that it is working right now.

Thanks a bunch kind sir.

I used info from the boards here and some forums and i've made a little something for you. These are the same steps i took and successfully have multiple peer blocker lists. AND THEY ARE WORKING SUCCESSFULLY! :D
Go to: http://www.iblocklist.com/lists.php

1. copy the URL link you desire from i-blocklist.com (its the link on the far right column- not the websites link!!!) http://img215.imageshack.us/i/iblocklist.png/
2. open transmission -> preferences -> peers http://img820.imageshack.us/i/transmissionh.png/
3. paste the url into the URL bar and click "update" (download should be visible)
4. On mac finder bar (no program selected) click on "go" -> "go to folder"
5. enter " ~/Library/Application Support/Transmission " http://img846.imageshack.us/i/gotofile.png/
6. select the blocklist folder *(notice that there is only one "blocklist.bin" folder? That is the blocklist of the current URL that you pasted into Transmission. Transmission will always make this file the generic URL updated .bin file) You don't want that unless you plan on just having one blocklist.
7. click and drag the blocklist out of the folder and onto your desktop! Rename it "(any name) blocklist.bin"

8. Rinse and repeat for the other blocklist URLs you wish to use from the site. (i used 6) And also, whenever you finish with however many URLs you use, close Transmission before going to step 9.

*** Side Note: because you are doing this via transmission and not a program (peerguardian, peerblocker, etc.) you do not have to worry about it blocking IPs when you go about your daily computer routine. THIS JUST AFFECTS TRANSMISSION AND WHO YOUR PEERS ARE!!! :)

**Basically by doing this (took me 10 mins to do 6 blocklists-not bad) you are having transmission do the necessary conversion technique and are not leaving any chance to human error. Let the program do this for you! No errors whatsoever when you do it this way.

9. After you have done this for your desired blocklists (making sure each has a different name before the affix "-blocklist.bin", then go back to the blocklist folder (step 4 & 5)
10. click and drag each renamed " -blocklist.bin" file (on ur desktop) back into the folder. http://img839.imageshack.us/i/renamedbins.png/
I hope this helps all of you none-source-code-knowing, easy-way-around-it, mac loving folks! Cheers! :))

If you don't understand the steps, they're pretty straight forward. Just go at each one SLOWLY and you will be taken care of. Trust me. :)
Beautifu! Works like a champ! Thanks for the good, sound tut! Now I feel (only slightly) less creepy about SOPA and PIPA

after following arymarkys advice on how to add blocklists on transmission twice!!! over now i can't seem to get the desired result..ggrrrrrr!
i copy paste and update then take from folder to desktop and rename as instructed .i did this for eleven lists i.e.eleven folders closed transmission then i put them all back in the folder as instructed.
as i have written this and just noticed the desired results have shown up guess i needed to be a bit more patient.
question now is
on process i have UDP and ONE red dots for the following messages failed to set receive buffer: no buffer space available.
also UDP and one reds dot failed to set receive buffer:requested 41934304 , got 42080
SHOULD I BE WORRIED ABOUT THIS
THANKS FOR ANY HELP novice new mac user and wasn't much use on my pc my friends usually do all this technical stuff but I'm learning all be it the time consuming way

Definitely the easiest method for someone new to transmission and OS X as I am. Thanks!
Hey guys, I'm running v2.33.02. Is this process still relevant?

Hi -

I have a strange problem.

I Just set up a new iMac running mountain lion 10.8.2
I've downloaded the latest version of Transmission 2.76

I cannot find the blocklist folder
I cannot even find the application support/transmission folder

When I first setup the new iMac, I transferred my user info and documents over using the migration assistant.

On the old iMAc ( running 10.6.8 ) I had no problem setting up the multiple blocklists.....
( since the folder was exactly where it should be...)

Does anyone have any ideas about this?

Thank you
