Is there a way to install Transmission on portable storage?

Post by siju »

Hi there,

I just had asked myself if there would maybe be a way to install Transmission on the 'Intenso Memory 2 Move', which (for those who don't know about it) can host a separate wifi network but also can use bridged networking to access the internet.
So now my question is (as said in the title) if you could install transmission on a device like this... (very probably i failed to see an important fact which would may have answered this question, but I hope some of you can answer my question :) )

Thanks in advance,
Simon

It's not impossible I guess. From what I could see they use some ARM chip there and Linux kernel 2.6.21. Bad thing is it's not a normal system, it has pre-compiled firmware and certainly doesn't provide SSH access. This means one would need to make a custom firmware including Transmission (probably not an easy task), and this would also mean that the warranty would be void.
