External Hard Drive Issue (Groups > Custom Location)

I'm having issues with my external hard drive. Transmission will save the custom location as "External Hard Drive" but after a day or so, stop working.

When I go to reset the custom location, the hard drive name changes from "External Hard Drive" to "External Hard Drive 1", "External Hard Drive 2", "External Hard Drive 3" and so on...

It's managed to do this enough times that it has reached "External Hard Dive 34"

Each time this happens, the custom location Transmission saves for the files is null and the program cannot continue seeding.

Can anybody suggest a NAS device that is good with this piece of software? Currently I back up a client PC Win 7 64 bit, to external hard drive, I'd like to backups from the machine to a NAS device. Anybody have any recommendations?
