Transmission 1.50 Beta 2

Transmission 1.50 Beta 2 is now available for download.

1.50 doesn't have many visual changes, but has lots of improvements under the hood, including IPv6 support, better tracker and file management, and about 20 bug fixes, large and small.

We've had 20,000 downloads of beta 1, but only about a dozen users have given us feedback. Maybe it was so good that nobody needed to complain. Maybe it crashed 20,000 computers, whose owners are no longer able to get online to yell at us. The only way for you to know for sure is to download beta 2 and see for yourself. gui seems much more stable then 1.4. if i left the "peers' windows on previous versions open, i would have to perform a force quit periodically due to the gui locking up. 1.50 b2 does not seem to have that issue.

i will attempt to try out ipv6 as soon as i get it set up.

many thanks. i think i describe most users in saying thanks for such a great project. dont take our lack of bug reports as being disinterested. there are many 'lurkers'.

Some feedback from embedded device users (Networked Media Tank, MIPS processor).
Some great speed enhancements since revision 7711 (trunk).
For some reason the "(trunk libT) peerMgr: operate directly on tr_torrent and not peerMgr+torrentHas" caused the NMT to download faster and keep connections open longer to other peers/seeds!

Ubuntu 8.04 64bit, 20 mbit/s full duplex...

Peer connectivity very fast and good.
Speed and connections are very good. I think little bit better than in 1.50 beta 1.
No problems detected till now.

Transmission 1.50b2 (7741) crashed when I pushed the color button in the little window "Groups". Transmission quitted immediatly. I restarted Transmission, pushed the color button again and this time the "Colors" window opened as it should.

I've just tried 1.50b2 on my MacBook... it downloads fine, finds seeds fast and gets more peers than 1.42, but it either doesn't upload at all or uploads as 1-1.5 kb/sec.

Back to 1.22 for now...

Oke, found a bug: if I select a total upload speed limit, the upload still remains without limits. Total download limit isn't active, so full speed on the downstream.

On mac download seems fine in 1.50beta2 , upload was better in 1.50beta1

Found another major bug this time. Al already had this with 1.50b1. Sometimes my modem doesn't seem to like the Transmission client. It just chokes and alle traffic has a hard time to get through. The modem web interface is unreachable. When I pause all torrents while client is still active, the modem restores back to normal and all traffic is fine again. Modem: Zyxel P-2602R-D1A

I just switched back to 1.42 and everything works like a charm. So there is something different in both 1.50 Beta's which can cause this problem. It's a big problem, that's for sure. A lot of 'no route to host' messages in the lot. Ticket #1717

My setup, headless Debian with Transmission 1.50b2 running as a daemon while using the console client and the webbased gui to administrate the program.

I've used 1.42 but this kept crashing when stressed (30 torrents, upload max to 1 MBps, download unlimited). Now using 1.50b2, I haven't had any problems so far and I'm running more torrents.

I just noticed when removing a torrent using 'Remove Data File', 1.50b2 left some empty folders behind on OS X 10.5.6. I understand that since http://trac.transmissionbt.com/ticket/1029 was fixed that Transmission only removes data from the torrent, but I'm 100% sure I haven't changed anything inside those folders. So they shouldn't have been left behind.

Hey guys, transmission is working great, getting fast speeds and connecting to peers well in 1.5 beta 2. Unfortunately, just a few minutes ago the old "whole system slowly beachballs" bug came back and crashed my computer. This was while downloading only 2 torrents with it capped at 10 K up and down.
