renaming the "transmission-daemon.exe" on Windows

Post by xyience »

Hello Everyone,

I just discover the wonders of TransmissionBT on Windows, Is it okay to rename the file "transmission-daemon.exe" to another filename, lets say "svchost.exe" to hide it on Task Manager, not to obvious.., Is there going to be a problem on the WebUI or generally on the program itself, I just using it locally, using the localhost:9091..

Thanks everyone,

to hide it on Task Manager,
to hide it from what or who? :?

you can rename it to whatever you want and run it as a service in lots of ways so I don't understand what you are trying to do.

you see when I was not at home I left my PC open with the torrent running, when the transmission-daemon.exe show on Task Manager, my sister end the process on task manager, because its too conspicuous, so i want it not too obvious to her like svchost.exe or taskhost.exe, It's already running on service, thanks to that link, so it is ok to rename it, you just answer my question, thanks for the confirmation, so no problem to other files on the "app" folder when I rename it

thanks again
