Adding Trackers

Post by miniL »

Hello,

I just managed to set everything up with transmission (daemon, proper connection between webui & QT as it wasn't syncing before).
So far I am already very happy with the speeds and how stable it is running (Deluge kept crashing on my 300+ torrents, but transmission seems to have it covered with ease).

I however ran into one downside since deluge let me add a huge list of default trackers for all the torrents (otherwise some of those will never finish).
Transmission seemed to be missing this option, and after searching the forums, github and other sides few solutions come up.
I have seen some pictures where people show a box in transmission for adding just such a list of trackers.
Others advise to set up swift since this enables you to add a trackerlist through the WebUI (which is connected to the daemon/QT so should work fine?)

However after all the topics I am left with some questions:
1. Is there no option for adding trackers in a huge list in the windows app (Transmission QT)?
2. If not can they be added one by one, but at least for all torrents instead of a single torrent?
3. Why are some of the QT settings missing in the WebUI (It shows my file destination when complete, but not where the incomplete files are downloaded to)?
4. Is shift WebUI the only option for adding additional trackers in a functional way for windows?
5. Is there a detailed guide for setting up shift so I can get this working (cannot find mentioned locations etc in the main guide I found)?

Sorry for the many questions but it's running splendidly for 3 days now and all I missing is adding those trackers so all files can download and seed properly.
Hope someone can help me out :)

Hi cfpp2p thanks for the reply and link.
I am a bit confused though looking at your link/topic.

Is it a running issue that needs resolving?
Or is this a solution for the tracker problem by creating a script?

When looking at the sourceforge link it seems to be a solution by creating a script.
But it also links to Entware, which confuses me, do I need that to create it or....?

Or is this just a script I can create and run with the settings and information in your links?
This link made me think so:
https://github.com/Entware/Entware/wiki ... e-trackers

However most of the codes makes me think it is Linux related (maybe I'm just too inexperienced though).

This applicable for Windows and how do I go about it exactly?
PS: This doesn't work for running torrents, only new ones right?
Still would help loads for future torrents

For https://github.com/transmission/transmission you will need to apply the patch and compile for yourself.

At https://sourceforge.net/projects/transmissiondaemon/ it's already patched Windows and just follow https://sourceforge.net/p/transmissiond ... /56bf87c5/

Thanks for the help!
Been working on it for a bit but haven't finished yet.
Got the GUI running though, looks ok and works fine so far.

Will try to add the script tomorrow and see how it goes.
One thing I just thought of, forgot to mention I use sonarr.
This injects all magnet urls it finds into the web UI I think.
This should be no problem for the script activation when sonarr adds a torrent right?
And this means current torrents will not benefit unless I re-add them correct?

Even without massive tracker adding features, I have to say Transmission is great, also with speeds, much better than deluge.
Biggest benefit of course is that it doesn't crash even with massive amounts of torrents, and still runs a lot lighter as well.

Ok tried it today but that was too troublesome.
Will stick to adding them manually for now.
Thanks for the help though.

Will this feature be added to the main client for windows at some point?
So we can just add them in a box in settings and it gets added to all previous torrents (perhaps after reboot) & future ones?

Seen screenshots from this somewhere but I guess thats Linux or Mac versions?
