Hello !
I use Transmission-Daemon on a Debian Jessie server.
For installation, I use the basic command line "apt-get install transmission-daemon" but the version is not up to date on the repository.
So, I want update my transmission-daemon 2.84 to the latest version 2.92 and, if I understand, I need to compil the source by myself for that.
My questions is :
- Can I update the existing transmission-daemon or it's need to delete it ?
- Can I use the how-to https://trac.transmissionbt.com/wiki/Building for Jessie ?
Thank you by advance for your answers.
How to update transmission-daemon 2.84 to 2.92 on Debian Jessie ?

Hi!
Version 2.92 is currently available in the official repositories of debian Jessie (testing).
https://packages.debian.org/search?sear ... ansmission
Although I have installed stable release of Debian jessie, I can easily put a fresh version of transmission from the test release. Any dependencies the new package is not pulled.
That's what I did:
1)added in /etc/apt/sources.list the branch "testing":
deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian testing main contrib non-free
2)now everything is almost as usual. Updated package list and set the desired package from "testing":
aptitude update
aptitude -t unstable install transmission
Then remove from /etc/apt/sources.list of previously added row (so that other packages don't automatically update to the test versions, because we don't need this):
deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian testing main contrib non-free
That's all!
