Port - Open/Closed

I Dnld my first torrent (an ebook). It dwld fine. have left it in Transmission 2.84 to seed as required. Looked at Trans Pref. Network says Port Closed.
How do I open it.

I've been at this for quite a while, and noticed recently that Transmission seems to have great difficulties with open/closed ports. Right now it says port 8080 is closed, but all online open port checking services show it as "open." Transmission shows Port 80 as being closed, we're on it as I type, and outside port-checkers (of course) show it as "open." This leads me o believe the problem is 100% on Transmission's flaky port access routine(s).

Am having the same situation, says peer listening port: closed. How do we get this fixed?
