Transmission on Debian locking up external EXT4 drives

Post by gonzozflick »

So I am using transmission-daemon on my RPi3. I have 3 external HDD attatched to pi via USB. They are all formatted ext4. I not only use the Pi to download torrents but also to serve NFS to my nVidia shield across the network. It seems like every day one of the drives will lock up. When i try and browse it I get input/output error. The output of DMESG is the following. This is driving me crazy and I have to power down and then power up everything again to get it unlocked. I am also scared of doing damage to the drives. Im posting here because transmission appear in the error output;

[309764.036575] EXT4-fs warning (device sdb): dx_probe:742: inode #62717953: lbl ock 0: comm transmission-da: error -5 reading directory block
