unexplained port behavior

Post by jonix »

Hello,

I run Transmission 2.93, with settings UPNP & NAT-PMP off. DHT off.
I am behind a NAT from my ISP, so my router gets a private ip 10.x.x.x. My router has UPNP disabled, NAT enabled, no port forwarding. The tracker sees me as my public ip (which might be shared) and the correct port. This is expected as I tell this info in an outbound connection to the tracker.

However, people are able to download from me. How is it possible?

Upon further investigation it appears that the upload I have is happening on outbound connections.. so can someone explain this usecase? In which case will transmission upload in such a way? how will the protocol behave?

Thanks a lot!
