External HDD keeps disconnecting

Post by rudolph05 »

Hello all,

I have an 1TB hdd formatted as exFAT, which I use to download movies onto. The version of Transmission is 3.00 (bb6b5a062e). The problem is that Transmission gets to download a few megabytes, then it shows this error message:

Code: Select all

Error: Software caused connection abort (/media/lavinia-hdd/movies/Soul.2020.2160p.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.Atmos.DV.x265-MZABI/Soul.2020.2160p.W

After that if I try to check the mounting point I get the following error message:

Code: Select all

ls: cannot access 'lavinia-hdd': Transport endpoint is not connected

And if I look in dmesg, I get the following:

Code: Select all

I don't know if it's relevant, but this is the transmission-daemon's settings file:

Re: External HDD keeps disconnecting

My first guess would be a driver and/or a filesystem corruption problem. I have seen drives disconnect on a hardware sector error as well but not for a long time.
