Can I move a partially downloaded file to another machine?

Can I move a partially downloaded file to another machine?

I have been running ultimate ubuntu and I am about ready to toss it. I would like to reload plain old ubuntu. Unfortunately, I started to download a 79GB file and I am only about half way through. Can I save it to me NAS and reload it and pick up where I left off once I get my machine redone? The only similar post I could find went unanswered. Thanks.
