Suddenly just won't start on my mac...
Transmission today (after using it for years) suddenly crashed and would not start-up again.
I have deleted it and reinstalled it.
It says it's open but it isn't - when I click it. it bounces on the doc but doesn't open on the top menu bar or open visually. It does however, say that I have to quit it!
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask for help on this but i've just fund this site.
Please help damsel in distress...

Re: Suddenly just won't start on my mac...
Just had the same problem. Couldn't find an answer using Google, but this thread turned up. I appreciate that the 'How to Report a Bug' list is a good idea. But in this case, Transmission simply never finishes starting up. With no Console messages at all...
Anyway, I fixed it by simply removing everything in /Users/<user name>/Library/Application Support/Transmission/Resume
Don't ask me why, maybe one of these got corrupted somehow. I didn't try anything else other than this.

Worked for me to!
Thanks!
Thanks!

CursorK that fixed it for me as well. I had the same problem. A never loading Transmission 1.74 on my Snow Leopard iMac. It just stopped working, all of a sudden. I tried running it under 32 bit mode, and rosetta. It would work sometimes then just stop or crash after awhile. I tried the latest nightly build 1.75b1 and same thing. I read your fix, and it fixed it right away, even wih the 32 bit mode and rosetta unchecked. Thanks for the suggestion! You're a life saver.CursorK wrote:Just had the same problem. I have the same problem but i don't have a resume folder, any ideas what's wrong?
Re: Suddenly just won't start on my mac...
Thanks, I did install the latest beta but I didn't uninstall first.
I'll try what you suggested and let you know if it works. Luckily I only have torrents seeding, nothing downloading so if it doesn't work I've got vuse to fall back on. Not that I want to got back to it. Transmisson is much better.

Re: Suddenly just won't start on my mac...
arekisu: Have you installed curl yourself? Looks like you might not have built a universal version that's compatible with Transmission.
Re: Suddenly just won't start on my mac...
x190, tried all that you said and nothing has worked.
Repairing and verifying hasn't helped. That's the first thing i do whenever something doesn't work.
My problems started after i installed the update from apple, but i don't know how to get rid of it.
livings124, i don't know what curl is.
I'll try a different user account and see if that works.
edit: Tested another user account, same problem.

Re: Suddenly just won't start on my mac...
Those having issues, try a nightly build from http://transmission.xpjets.com/ and report back, good or bad.
Re: Suddenly just won't start on my mac...
No drive backup.
I've tried a nightly build already and i get the same result.

Neither was checked but once I checked 32-bit mode Transmission started, thanks a lot for your help.x190 wrote:arekisu: Control-click on Transmission.app and select 'Get Info'. Uncheck 'Rosetta'. Check '32-bit mode'.

Can anyone answer the question I asked earlier about 'curl'? It appears in the crash report and may have been the cause of the original problem.
