[Forum] Resume making release announcements

Post by rb07 »

This is a request for this forum, I'd like the release announcements, including betas and release candidates, to resume.

For some reason these announcements stopped, last one is for version 2.10. They make easier to follow changes, and to plan if joining a test release is worth it (i.e. changes affect what I use, I have enough time to give feedback, perhaps other good reasons).

This was discontinued because the release notes are all kept on the same page now - https://trac.transmissionbt.com/wiki/Changes

Wouldn't you get more [beta] testers if that info was also posted in the forum? Also, 2.20b2 was released Jan. 25 but is not yet listed in changes.
Perhaps, but it's also prominently displayed on the home page and Mac users can opt to get it via autoupdate.

An announce and a change log are different things, even if the former includes the later.

One thing I've already mentioned is that if a beta or release candidate is available I expect the announcement to include some information about how long the testing period will be, otherwise I don't know if it is really worth testing and reporting any issue, it may be to late or I may not have time until the weekend.

Yes, I know I can keep hitting the project page to see if a new version is available, or I can look at the page you point out and the section heading will show clearly when a release was made. I'm just used to other projects users' list, and announcements list, which have no real equivalent in Web pages and forums.

Thanks for your reply.
