I don't see any need for an integrated chat client since I don't see any need to contact other peers. And the few times I may have had the thought they were already gone.

Second, for this to actually be useful it would have to work across all different clients, so it would effectively have to be a part of the torrent protocol itself.

I never understood the desire to chat with other p2p users. I queue my downloads then go do other things. I don't just sit there watching the progress bar wishing I had someone to chat with.
