Add torrent by hash

Post by Michelasso »

Could you please add an option to add the torrents by hash number as in ticket #4176?

https://trac.transmissionbt.com/attachm ... Link.patch

Unfortunately in Italy a certain site is fully blocked by all ISPs, and they removed the torrent files using only the magnet links, which do not work via proxy.

you can already do that if you add the torrents with the web-interface, but you need TR v2.32 or greater.

Actually I am not able to insert the HASH anywhere in Transmission (latest version).
Could you please explain it again? I mean, with VUZE is so simple.
Thanks for the help

When you say hash are you talking about only the hash itself or a magnet link? Magnet links have been supported for a fairly long time now.

no, just hash.
Sometimes the magnetlink doesn't work (or I cannot dwnl it because it prompts the activation of the torrent client). So I prefer to collect the HASH that I need and then download the torrent at home.
It is not that important but it is useful for my needs

It is possible to add by just the HASH in the web client. Paste the HASH where you put url or magnet. The hash will be treated like a magnet transfer. You will need DHT enabled to get peers.

This image shows magnet but JUST the HASH does work.

paste hash like this:

5076aad395897e93881ff2737451513275c7c460

into the url

If you want to choose what files to download after getting the metadata you will need this:

Uh, thanks
Didn't know the meaning of web-interface.

I've found here an easy explanation
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8165

Once added the hash, download start in few minutes. Metadata?!
I cannot choose which of files in the package I want to download.

What's about the black-list? Does this method still filter against bad peers or web-interface expose you to the risk of being targeted by the majors?

You will need to compile with the patch I described in my previous post to choose the files or if you are using Mac get the pre-patched version for Mac here:
https://trac.transmissionbt.com/ticket/532#comment:199
and downloading TransmissionMac27x-pcTMPr13960
Once you have this version remember to UN-check start when added to choose the files.

This includes patched blacklisting for DHT in addition to the regular blacklisting.

thanks
I got the pre-patched version http://computerfixpro.com/TransmissionM ... r13960.zip

Once inserted the hash and unchecked the start button, the torrent is of course paused.
Then what? Is there any window to open where to select wanted files?
thanks for your patience

The files can now be selected in the inspector of the Mac client as usual. I don't use Mac so I can't give you specifics but it is a normal function.

In the web client you can select/de-select the file's check-boxes in the inspector's files tab.

Now resume/un-pause/start the torrent.
