Stop if IP address changes

Post by xyzzy149 »

Tried searching but didn't find anything....too many hits

Wondering if anyone has considered a feature where Transmission will just stop if it notices that the IP address has changed since it started running?

Nice --- but rather useless if there's more than one IP address that can be used --- and regular users mightn't even know what address is being used, never mind getting an unsophisticated user to edit a plist file.

But I'm thinking specifically of the situation where you connect to some VPN service (and you may have multiple locations to which you can connect depending on server availability, bandwidth, etc so you don't want to have to edit a bind address every time you start) and then your VPN connection goes down some hours later. In such a case, you might want Transmission to stop immediately. So you don't necessarily know the IP address being used at any particular time. You just want Transmission to stop if whatever address it saw when it started running has changed.
