As I understand it Transmission preallocates space however now that flash drives/SSDs have become popular this is a hindrance not a help as it was on HDs, it just occupies space and shortens the drive life.
For desktop platforms, would it be possible to a) expose the preallocation preference in the settings UI and/or b) come up with a suitable default on first run by detecting the type of drive?

So this means that no matter what I set the preference to on Transmission OS X, it will get preallocated?

I mean, why do you think there's no other way. It's just like UNIX after all. Or there's some weird HFS+ limitation?
