Better percentage and remaining time for partial download

Post by ijudy »

If you unselect portions of a torrent in the files section, it doesn't affect the percentage downloaded and the remaining time. They become nearly useless. As a simple example, a torrent is 200 MB. It contains file A and file B. Each file is 100 MB. The user chooses to only download file B. The percentage downloaded is 5% and time remaining is 1 hour. This is WRONG. This information is only correct if the user is downloading the complete torrent. In this case, when the user unchecks file A, then the torrent is really only half the size. Assuming that the 5% downloaded is from file B, then 10% has been downloaded and the time remaining is really 1/2 hour. Of course, if part of the 5% was from file A, this would not be completely accurate. For myself, I would unselect unneeded files at the beginning of the download. Even if Transmission could not sort out which part of the percent downloaded was for each file, it would still be more accurate than it is now. Thanks for your consideration of this feature.

It would be also realy nice, if it was possible to sort the files, in this section mentioned above, by percentage downloaded, by name, by active downloads or whatever one wants.

Thanks in advance!
