Help! Can't open port...

Post by Jeremeh87 »

No peers can connect to me for seeding, and I guess it's because of this. It says "Port is closed" on the network tab and I have tried everything in the help section but I just can't figure it out/get it to work. I am using a Macbook Pro 10.5.8, connecting wirelessly to a Siemens Gigaset SE567. I've tried going into the 192.168.2.1 site and opening them manually, and that won't work either although I am probably doing it wrong or something... I also made sure transmission was enabled on my firewall.

Does anyone know the problem or have an suggestions of what I can do to fix this? Being a part of member only torrent sites where I need to keep a good ratio is really starting to suck because I can't upload anything even though there are a load of leechers...

Here's the message log that comes up:

I will add that when I go to the 192.168.2.1 site and go to port mapping setup, here are my options for adding a new port.

Select application by name: FTP, HTTP, SNMP, SMTP, PPTP, Domain
Select Protocol: TCP, UDP, ICMP, GRE
and TCP/UDP port(s): ________ - _________

If this is my problem and I need to enable a new port this way, what things do I select in this section? I am really confused...

So I still can not get this to work. No matter what I do or what instructions I follow the ports remain closed and it has the red button next to it. It's the same thing in uTorrent as well. Can anyone help me?

Also to the guy above me, as I posted the only options i can select are:
Select application by name: FTP, HTTP, SNMP, SMTP, PPTP, Domain
Select Protocol: TCP, UDP, ICMP, GRE
and TCP/UDP port(s): ________ - _________

I can't type in Transmission or anything. I can't type in anything. I can only select from what's given to me as listed above.

x190: Actually, I think manual port forwarding overrides UPnP, making it okay to leave UPnP enabled. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
