Re: Transmission freezing after Yosemite upgrade
If I were you guys I'd send those reports directly to Apple. There is no way such a simple program as Transmission, which didn't change the way it operates since 10.9 (or even earlier versions) should cause system to hang, crash or whatever. This is a regression in operating system itself if it's unable to properly run software it was able to run before. And it's a shame that Apple released this hugely undertested 10.10 system to the world.
Re: Transmission freezing after Yosemite upgrade
That is whole report.
I also sent those logs to Apple.
I just download whole Linux distribution.

Re: Transmission freezing after Yosemite upgrade
Transmission doesn't quit properly.
Even with a fresh uninstall/install

Re: Transmission freezing after Yosemite upgrade
I still have the same problems, even with the latest nightly #6226, 14500.dmg

Re: Transmission freezing after Yosemite upgrade
Either 25, or 50 GB.x190 wrote:How big (total GB) was/were the torrent(s) you added before quitting Transmission?
Yep, I just saw it, I'll do a clean uninstall/install and keep you updated.x190 wrote:Please try r14501, as it has a Mac specific changeset.
By the way I don't know if it's still hepful or not but here's another crash report from #6226. https://gist.github.com/anonymous/88fc23393222a7882496
Re: Transmission freezing after Yosemite upgrade
Well that was quick, I first loaded a 28 GB torrent, then when I tried to load a 25 GB torrent, Transmission crashed. https://gist.github.com/anonymous/30ab62d9effd11c62be3
Edit: The pause/resume crash is still not fixed.

Re: Transmission freezing after Yosemite upgrade
The only way for me to gather reports to help you guys is to Force Quit Transmission, otherwise it'll "hang" indefinitely.NEVER force-quit Transmission
This is quite surprising, when I was using Mavericks I never had any issue with Transmission. Since the Yosemite update, all of a sudden we can't pause or quit Transmission without causing issues. This is a Mac filesystem feature and cannot be changed by Transmission
Anyway, now I won't Force Quit Transmission anymore.

Re: Transmission freezing after Yosemite upgrade
Also having this problem regularly. I am trying Transmission-14516 (2015-04-26 Nightly). Will eventually try troubleshooting steps mentioned but no time now and not optimistic. With this many reports, hard to see that it's not a compatibility problem with Yosemite as the thread title suggests. edit: seems to happen after screen sleep (as noted by others) but also sometimes by transmission being switched to a background desktop (occasionally).
Re: Transmission freezing after Yosemite upgrade
Still happening on a regular basis, to the extent that Transmission is practically guaranteed to hang shortly after launch.
Here are two crash logs and some console output.
Here's a zip file containing a process sample while hung and the debug log as well as the crash logs and console output above. (Too big for pastebin.)

Thanks, that's some valuable info. Please re-upload the zip file though, to conform with forum rules (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3415).
Re: Transmission freezing after Yosemite upgrade
Just a quick update, I did a clean install of Yosemite, and since then, no crash at all.
Edit: Nevermind after a few days I still have crashes when I try to quit Transmission.

Re: Transmission freezing after Yosemite upgrade
This seems to have gotten progressively worse. Now (using latest dev preview of 10.10.4), if I start Transmission and leave the system alone for several hours (screen saver, display sleep), when coming back I get a message that the system is out of application memory (with 16GB physical memory and plenty free before launching transmission).
It's clear that Transmission is the cause; as soon as I force quit transmission I have no problem resuming all other processes.
