Constant crashing - how to collect diagnostic data?

Post by victorhooi »

Hi,

I've been running the Transmission Nightlies for a while, currently on build 14471. I am on OSX 10.9.5.

Recently, I have noticed the Transmission BT Gui crashing a lot - no error message, it just closes instantly.

I restart it shortly after, and then it happens again. I've also noticed that whilst it is running, the download speed is quite slow (around 20Kbps), although I don't know if that is related.

I thought initially perhaps it was I had too many active downloads, so I paused some of these. However, that didn't seem to have any effect.

Is there some way I can collect additional diagnostic data, to see why it's crashing like this?

Could it be something corrupted in my Transmission configuration causing this? Or maybe too many torrents overall?

Cheers,
Victor

Hi,

Aha, I didn't realise these get captured in Console.app =). Neat.

I've just uploaded the complete contents of the last four crash logs to Gist - let me know if you need anything else.

@x190 I can confirm that this build works without the aforementioned crashes =). Thanks!

Just to clarify - the assert was commented out for now, and the bug will be fixed down the line, right?

Do we know what the impact of this bug on users it?
