Entire folder structure is incorrectly added instead of selected files

Hello,
When the file I'm going to download from a tracker is in a parent folder, and I have just this file selected, then the entire hierarchy of objects in that parent folder are put on the hard disk which in turn makes the Mac think free disk space is much smaller than it would be otherwise. Is it a bug, or a possible workaround exists? Nothing I have read on Transmission Wiki and this forum, hasn't suggested any fix so far.
