port forwarding

Post by metropical »

my listen port remains closed after setting up a port forward.
I'm on a VPN and a FiOS Gateway 1100 router.
Anyone have a clue how to fix this?

I struggled with this issue too. What worked for me was to open system preferences-security/privacy-firewall. You will need to add your VPN provider to allow incoming connections to the MAC Firewall.
This assumes you already have configured UPnP on your router.
Worked like a champ in my situation.

tried that. n/g. The UPnP was already Enabled, which is the only setting available.
Darn the Luck ! ! !

OK, so you have UPnP enabled on the router. On your client-not the router, if you don't allow incoming connections in the firewall settings, your computers firewall may be blocking the port. This was my issue. You'll need to edit your firewall settings by adding privileges for whatever VPN you are running.
Just wanted to make sure I explained that adequately.
Good Luck!

yea, think you did and think I did. I'd upload snaps, but they seem to be blocked.
Oh well, it still works adequately. Not sure what the Listen port would add, but it is what it is.
