CPU usage in 1.42
Hello,
I just upgraded to the new 1.42. My problem is that the cpu usage (in iStat pro) is about 30%, while downloading with ~150 kb/s. With 1.41 I had a cpu usage <5%. The problem is that the fans of my Macbook are running constantly with this usage.
When I try to switch back to 1.41 (1.41 worked without a problem) it now crashes after a few seconds.
System: Macbook with Core Duo 1.8 Ghz, 2GB Ram, 1.5.6 (all updates installed)
Thank you for your time!

Re: CPU usage in 1.42
1.41 was known to have problems. Try going to 1.40 if that worked for you, or if needed go to an older version.

Re: CPU usage in 1.42
Thanks for the hint, it does work. It's very strange that 1.41 worked all the time but now it does not...
Anyway, 1.40 works fine again.
Thanks again.

Re: CPU usage in 1.42
Hi All,
I'm having higher cpu usage too with 1.42. 20% on a 2.1GHz macbook, having 4 active torrents, cca 50/50K down/up speed.
On 1.41 i had about 5% cpu usage.
Don't know how to report it as a bug, or if it's a bug at all (looks like one to me though).

Re: CPU usage in 1.42
I can confirm that. I've also found out, that turning off bandwidth limits cures this (at least using r7514 nightly).
Hope this helps devs to pin this bug (shaper code i guess) down.

Re: CPU usage in 1.42
I can confirm the same thing. 1.42 produces constant 25-30% CPU load. tried it on 2 different machines with the same result. going back to 1.40 reduces CPU load to 1-3%. I'm sticking with 1.40 until this is fixed.drstrangelove wrote:Hello,

Re: CPU usage in 1.42
Update on the status.
So, testing with svn r7516 - T behaves much better. Now it's mostly within 2-4%, sometimes going up to 7-10%. (Seeding 25 torrents, 80kb total upload limit, turning off global limits gives 2-4%, as it should)
I'll leave it for a night and update if something changes.
Upd::
Turning on SpeedLimit feat gives 15-20% again.

Re: CPU usage in 1.42
Well, overnight test run reveals more probs, as number of peers grow - so does cpu usage, I've found T in the morning constantly using 20-25%.
Re: CPU usage in 1.42
I have got the same problem on my iMac.
15 - 25% CPU Usage.
System: iMac with Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz, 4GB Ram, 10.5.6

Re: CPU usage in 1.42
I can confirm the issue about CPU utilization too.
Unfortunately using the last nightly build has got the problem to be even worse, Transmission hangs before starting downloading a single bit.
My system is MacBook with a Core 2 Duo 2.00 GHz, 2 GB, and Mac OS 10.5.6.

Re: CPU usage in 1.42
I've come back to version 1.40 and the problem is solved. I think I'll skip version 1.42.
