Failed DL

This may sound like a bit of a silly question, but I'm relatively new to BitTorrent. When I'm downloading a file, under the inspector, there is a Failed DL line. With this failed data, does that mean that it tried to download it but it was messed up, so it will try to download it again, or am I just going to never have that piece of data?

The former. I read somewhere that Trans will allow download of that piece from that same peer several times (3 ?), then will "blacklist" that peer for that piece. Trans will get it elsewhere unless no other peer has the piece.
