so that they link in with already downloaded files? I had to trash the Application Support File for Transmission ( before, it crashed on start up every time) and lost every file I was seeding. I have the torrent files and I have the data files.
I have set the Download folder as the folder where the data files are stored. When I start a torrent it starts to download a whole new file even though it already exists. How do I get the torrent file and the data file matched?
Many thanks for any help.

Did you try to do a "verify local data" before you started the torrent?

That was it! Thanks for your help. I had the 'start transfer when added box' ticked.
