securing tunnelblick

Post by missionDirk »

Because I always liked using transmission over other clients and ran into problems
with my IP being exposed when tunnelblick or my internet connection drops.
I wrote a litle app to secure the firewall for tunnelblick. It now does a bit more than that, like auto switching servers.

You can find it on the tunnelblick discussion forum.
the app is free, but I won't post a link as that would break the forum rules I guess.
( unless I get permission to post a link )

this should take you to the download on dropbox :

ipv6 for the time being is disabled until I understand better how to enable it on the local network
and being sure it doesn't use the router directly.

Do you have a link detailing minimum OS requirements, where it puts its support files, and what exactly it does? On 10.6.8, I'm just getting a crossed out VPNlock.app.
Its compiled for 10.9

It takes a list from tunnelblicks configurations. ( .ovpn files ) extracts the server IPs and port numbers. Uses these to build a list for the firewall that allows only access to these on the regular internet connection. It also downloads daily the emerging threats file, and blocks these IPs. It has a black list option as well, but I haven't used it myself.
Even if you don't want to use tunnelblick, you could use the above features by configuring tunnelblick with your vpn servers and not using it :-)
It also has an option to block local network traffic in case you are on a wifi hotspot.

It allows the building of a favourite list of servers that can be scheduled to switch from 1 to the next etc... ( every 30 minutes and different times )

Sorry I don't have a web site at the moment.

Why are you still on 10.6.8 ? ( I am typing this on a macpro2006 running 10.9.x , ( new graphics card ) )
