New option: Delay seeding while there are active downloads

Post by Erunno »

Hello there,

first of all I'd like to express my gratitude to the Transmission team for providing this great tool. :-D

Now that this is out the way let's get to suggestion. ;-)

My knowledge about the Bittorrent protocol is sketchy but as far as I understand it the download speed is dependent on your upload speed for a particular torrent. Thus spreading your available upload bandwidth across many individual torrents can result in worse than possible download speeds. Currently Transmission starts immediately seeding after a download is finished. My suggestion is to add an option that allows stalling "pure seeding" while there are still ongoing downloads so that these have the full upload bandwidth available.

you can select that you want 0 seeding torrents in preferences, and when you want to seed torrents again you put in a number you want

I'd be more interested in an automatic solution that's why I brought this up. While this might work switching the amount of uploads manually each time is inconvenient.
